A conservation project in South India - Planting 108 trees

For the last few years, we’ve supported a vital tree-planting project organised and run by our remarkable Pukka partner, Mr Shastry. Each year, his team plant 108 sapling species of rare and endangered trees in one of the world’s greatest biodiversity hotspots, the Western Ghats. Their efforts are helping to conserve a priceless pocket where some of India’s most important wildlife lives.

Understanding the dosha

According to Ayurveda, doshas are the energy patterns that flow around our bodies, governing our thinking and behaviour. There are three primary doshas – vata, pitta and kapha – and we are all born with all three of them. But it’s the dominance of one or two of these doshas that defines who we are. To enjoy a balanced mind, body and spirit, so the thinking goes, our unique dosha constitution needs to be in a state of equilibrium. When it isn’t, we fall ill.
